Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System is a computerized database of military persons and their families.
When an individual is registered with DEERS then he/she starts getting health insurance coverage from TRICARE.
Active duty and retired military members are automatically registered in DEERS and eligible for health insurance coverage from TRICARE but a military person needs to update their family members’ information with DEERS to start coverage for them.
It is necessary to update family members’ information accurately including the relation to starting or stopping the coverage.
